Flywheel Training for physiotherapy

The treatment of soft-tissue injuries like tendon- and muscle tissue damage can be difficult, lengthy and often unsatisfactory for the client. That’s why innovative physiotherapists leave aside traditional treatments and start with flywheel training. Research shows that flywheel training is the most effective way to treat and prevent tendon injuries.

How to apply flywheel training in physiotherapy?

More and more physiotherapists are embracing flywheel training. The main reason is the remarkably high effectiveness of flywheel training in treating tendon and muscle injuries. Flywheel training places more emphasis on the eccentric movement than traditional strength training. In addition to the positive effects in tendon and muscle injuries, scientific research also shows that flywheel training is a better alternative than traditional strength exercises in: injury prevention postoperative and sport-specific rehabilitation fall prevention and sarcopenia prevention among the elderly.

Additional advantage
A flywheel device is super compact and therefore perfect if you only have a small physiotherapy room.

Compact Flywheel Training Equipment

In addition to the scientific reason, physiotherapists mention another important advantage of flywheel training. Training with a Kynett flywheel device is possible in small spaces. If you have a small physiotherapy room, the Kynett PRO is ideal. If you don't use the device, it doesn't take up any space. With flywheel training you are not depending on gravity, therefor you can easily do all the exercises with just one device. Position the Kynett high for a shoulder internal rotation exercise or a lat pulldown. Position the Kynett at waist height for a horizontal row, standing chest press, or shoulder abduction. Place the Kynett low for a squat, seated leg extension, or lying hamstring curl.

Additional advantage
The production and assembly of the Kynett is done in-house with modern production equipment and is entirely located in the Netherlands.

Flywheel training is a unique development in sports and physical therapy. Training with a flywheel is also called kinetic training. Instead of traditional weights, the training is done with a rotating disc. In the concentric phase, the flywheel starts and accelerates by means of pulling a webbing. When the webbing is completely unwound, so much kinetic energy has now been built up that the webbing will roll itself up again, just like the well-known yo-yo. The goal is to bring the flywheel to a stop and then start it up again with a concentric movement. So the resistance you experience is not caused by gravity, but by inertia, also called mass inertia or (rotational) kinetic energy. The harder you pull, the harder the flywheel will spin and the more inertia will occur. To then brake the flywheel you will need quite some (eccentric) force!

With all of our products, you are able to train your entire body. On the website there are a number of instructional videos. It is very easy to think up and try sport specific exercises yourself, think tennis, boxing, golf etc.

The production and assembly of the Kynett is done in-house with modern production equipment and is entirely located in the Netherlands.
